We, human beings, Westerners, are
programmed by our Western Culture to *
do it all, have it all, make it all, preferably all
at the same time. The more crammed calendar the
better score and status. But we fail to understand that
we are not designed to this full activity calendar. Nor are
we designed to work full time, having two kids, house, car,
Volvo, dog or to be at all places at the same time and being a
perfect partner, perfect perfect parent, perfect friend, preferably
made good from scratch, vacation somewhere far away. Neither
* are we designed to learn about our fears, setting boundaries, *
* being our best friend to ourselves & self-care when needed.
Or
* for that matter how to deal with losses, death, giving birth, *
burnouts, shame, to decline opportunities that come our way
but are not really in our cards to handle. & not mention the
frantic obsession of working full time by the least. We are
* programmed to push ourselves at any cost including *
health, breakups, toxic energy, malnutrition, huge *
debts. Shine, shiny & shining. Polish even though
the trophy is weathered to shreds from the in- *
side. We are programmed to value others
but with the lack of the whole other
* need of our own needs. *
*
*
*
We are trained to succeed & bring
successes to the table but we never learnt *
anything about getting there. We even train our
* bodies & minds to sit at the wrong tables. Tables
that weather our brave hearts and suck the soul out *
of our delicate bodies.
* The bumpy roads. The wrong turns. The detours. The *
incorrect assumptions, based on the assumed expectations
from everybody & everyone else, about ourselves. To me, this
is where it gets interesting to me. What happened? Why did you
* turn over there? What motivates you? What are you scared of? *
*
What triggers you? Why do you do the things you do? I have
to become all about what is under the tip of the iceberg &
not
the slightest interested in fame, success & glory.
*
*
*
If
anything that frightens me.
But I urge to know how did you get *
from here to there? What are the lessons *
* learned? Who did you run into? Who and why
and what broke your heart? How and who mended
* it? What were the sacrifices you had to do in order to
get where you are today? That kind of heavy & messy
and light stuff makes my mind swirl around like *
* the bee around their honey beehive. *
