Sharing here, some raw & *

* spontaneous thoughts I wrote when *

@⁚Nic SCHOLTYSIK⁩ asked us to share how *

* does it make us feel to be in the She Told Me a

Story community. I wrote this text, whilst I had

* in mind all of my experience at the ground. *

* Including the beautiful community that *

* emerged from the art therapy *

* workshops ARTMI đŸ«¶

« Collectively we bear the long *

winter & the unfriendly attitude of those

* who think there is no place for us to co-exist *

in Sweden. It’s a platform for diversity & acceptance. *

It fuels us with power & sisterhood love. It validates each

* one’s experience & feelings without judgement or belittling.

It’s a safe space for sharcare ing, being oneself and dropping

the mask that we feel we have to wear to get by. She told me a

story could become a great platform to transform societal

* judgement on women from outside of Sweden & the *

* Nordics. Women who experience isolation *

* & social exclusion. *

*

*

*

* A place to nurture empathy & *

compassion. It is an eye opener to the

everyday struggle of international women to

make a living & to create a sustainable support

system around them. It’s a place of friendship

sisterhood. We experience love & compassion. It *

heals our wounds, it gives us a voice, we feel that we

belong, we are a community. We have each other’s back.

We feel that people about us. We matter. We are worth it. *

* * * * * *

It’s a place where I don’t feel alienated. Where I know people

don’t think that I’m exotic. I have nothing to prove to anyone. I

don’t need to walk the extra mile to show my worth or to be

* appreciated. I can just be me. No one is looking, no one is

judging. The pressure is off. I can be raw. I don’t need to hide. *

* * * * * *

* I take my hoodie off. My curls are shining again. No one will

judge me or look down on me. The room is filled with hope. *

Eyes are seeking eye contact. Friendships are now formed.

* The presSUREis off, the connections are real. Uplifting *

words warm hugs, compassionate thoughts, encou- *

* raging cheering, it’s like we have known each other

for a while. It reMINDs me of feeling at home.

Can this be it, finally found a homey

place in Malmo. Â» *
